Saint Ann

St. Ann Church was born out of the desire of a small group of African American Catholics in Fayetteville to practice their faith without the constraints of the social prejudices of their time. The yearning for a church of their own can be traced back as early as the spring of 1920 when a letter was written to Bishop Leo Haid, leader of the Apostolic Vicariate (later the Diocese of Raleigh).

St. Michael

The Maronite community contracted to purchase the old St. Patrick's Church, built in 1936 on Arsenal Avenue, from the Diocese of Raleigh and began an extensive three year renovation project. Visitors to the Church are drawn to the beautiful stained glass window of St. Patrick on the east wall of the Church. The remodeling culminated with the hanging of the icon of “Christ in Judgment” behind the altar.

St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

It all began on November 29th, 1980 with a Mass at the Adcock Funeral Home in Spring Lake, and a week later, December 7th, our first mass was celebrated in an abandoned 7-11 store on MacArthur Rd. which came to be affectionately known as "Saint 7-11." On November 18th 1981, we received our official name and became the parish of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, no longer a mission church of St. Patrick.
